Rules

Out of Character Rules

1) No being mean to other members. Simple as that. Be nice or be banned.

2) User E-Mails must be valid and checked often. If you have multichars, be sure to have a least one e-mail for your main character that your check often, but each character needs their own e-mail. We use e-mail to contact users in the event of forum issues. Invalid emails won't allow you to register.

3) Please do not spam this forum with links to your site. You'll be banned.

4) This forum just had troubles with idea stealing from another popular Hogwarts RPG, so this rule will be implemented here now. NO TAKING ANYTHING from this site. Not images, not our sheet, not our layout, ZIP. You can ask me if you want to know if you can, we might lend some things, but only with MY PERSONAL permission. I don't want anyone to go through what i went through and i certainly don't want to deal with the frustration i caused the other forum admins. Your writing and characters of course are yours, and can be used wherever you want.

5) You can have up to 15 multiple characters. Each character needs a unique and active e-mail, and must stay relatively active. Inactive posting accounts are deleted every 6 months. If you like a character you made but no longer wish to play them, allow someone else to adopt them. For more info, see THIS thread.

6) Please do not cuss or make other inappropriate references during role play. If you simply must, only cuss lightly, but this is heavily frowned upon.

7) Please be sure to keep your character profiles updated. If a profile needs updating, please visit THIS board.

In Character Rules

1) New Players are REQUIRED to fill out a character sheet in order to start role playing. Please see THIS board for more info. Feel free to chat or post OOC while waiting approval. There are 0 exceptions to this rule!

2) Students are sorted based on their profile, and they may not always get the house they choose. Admin Sorting decisions are FINAL. We usually warn you before hand if your house choice and character don't match up.

3)  If you want some form of special Power, Item, or Pet, you need to fill out a Request BEFORE saying you have them in your sheet. These features are of course rare, and most users are not accepted. Please note that these special things can be added to your possession at ANYTIME, so you don't have to get them when you first start. It's best to wait a while.

4) Don't register a character that has no flaw or weaknesses. These characters are extremely unrealistic and will not be accepted. Our flaws are what make us human! These characters are referred to as "Mary Sue" or "Gary Stu" characters.

5) NPC's, or non-playable characters, can only be brought into your control with Administrator permission. The exception is immediate family; Your mom and dad are automatically under your control. NPC's can always be passed on to another or registered yourself as playable characters. Please see THIS board for more info about that.

6) Students cannot apparate until they are at least 6th year, AND have passed an Apparation Test. More info is HERE. Adult Characters can automatically apparate, no test needed.

7) The more you post and are active on the forum, the faster your year will increase. If you stop posting and logging in, you will stop advancing in the game. It's as simple as that.

8 ) If you need to post OOC (Out of Character) while Role Playing, please place your text in (parenthesis) so your fellow players will know what your character is and isn't doing.

9) Rule Breaches should be reported to Silvio immediately, through Help Tickets or PM's. Do not attempt to deal with it yourself, Admins will take action, not you.

10) Please don't meaninglessly post. No one can play with you if you don't establish some sort of plot or something to build off of. These pointless posts will be locked and eventually deleted, so please don't waste out time.

11) When registering your character as a student, you are allowed to start play at any level you want. If you wish to start as more than a first year however, you will need more background information detailing your previous Hogwarts years.

12) Students should refrain from posting outside of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade unless we're in the playtime month of December, April, June, July, or August. More info about playtime can be found HERE.

Posting Rules

1) Capital letters signify shouting, so don't capitalize unless it makes sense to be shouting.

2) Italic words represent thoughts. What is thought by other players you as a reader know, because you read it, but you as a player do not, so don't play off of other peoples thoughts with your character. Can you read other peoples thoughts in real life? Didn't think so.

3) Do not directly copy from google or any other site when posting. This is plagiarism, and is illegal.

4) Do not post one liners, which are single words or sentences. Try to aim for 1-3 paragraphs per post.

5) At FYM, we roleplay in the third person, which means you refer to yourself with your name, and NOT I. The exception is when you are speaking or writing. This applies to character sheets as well, please right them from an outsiders perspective.

These are the forum rules. Please be sure to read them! It looks like a lot, but it honestly isn't. It's just in categories.
